Weekend French polishing and upholstery class

  • **Please contact GFC directly if you wish to book a class using a gift voucher**

This weekend taster class will give a great introduction to the basics of fixed traditional upholstery and French Polishing. Not your usual upcycling class, by the end of the class you will know how to:
    - Prepare timber for French polishing
    - Techniques to stain & polish timber
    - Web a chair
    - Build up seat padding using traditional stuffing materials and methods
    - Attach your final cover
    - Work using traditional upholstery tools and methods.

The class will also allow the opportunity to complete a pin board upcycling project that further covers other techniques used within the craft including button making & deep buttoning.

The class runs from 9:00am - 5pm both Saturday & Sunday. The class size is kept to a maximum of 4 persons to ensure that you get sufficient one-to-one time with the tutor.

All materials, chair and lunch are provided throughout the weekend and ask that you only provide 1m of your chosen final fabric for your chair project & 0.5m for your upcycled pin board project.

At the end of the weekend you will be able to take your completed project home to show off to your friends and family. Please note it may be advisable to drive or organise someone to pick you up Sunday afternoon to take you and your chair home.
